Pakistan government is providing maximum support to the quake victims in Azad Kashmir. Chief Secretary AJK government Muhammad Kashif Murtaza said while speaking in a PTV programme on Thursday. He said besides provision of relief goods to cities in AJK, immediate requirements of the population of hilly areas was also being given special attention.

Chief Secretary said Rs 25,000 was being distributed among those whose houses were badly damaged. He said Pakistan government has allocated huge funds to meet shortage of tents for shelter of the quake-striking people.

To a question he said financial assistance of Rs 25,000 was not enough for reconstruction of damaged houses, but this was an initial relief amount so that inhabitants of hilly areas could arrange immediate shelter for themselves.

He said raw material in the shape of rubble is already available there and can be used again. Galvanized sheets of damaged houses can also be re-used, he added. Chief Secretary said maximum support, within the available resources were being provided to the affected people.
